Great For Fabric painting on cotton, silks, paper, clay and so much more!!
Simply paint fabrics as desired, let dry, heat set for a hot dry iron and ENJOY
Water based paints with a soft hand on fabric, thick enough for stamping, stenciling and adding color and layers for mixed media.
Basic Fabric painting, use a paint bowl ( I love to re-use old plastic bowls) Mix paint and water, 3 parts water one part paint. With a spay bottle, spritz fabric until it is damp.
Place fabric on a plastic bag or I also use the back of a cutting mat.
Creating blends - using a brush about an inch wide paint sections of fabric with one color, now switch colors and fill in the white sections with a second color. Do this in three of four colors if desired. Let colors blend one into the next for a wonderful watercolor look. For more flow you can spritz paint with water bottle to give more movement while painting.
Salting - While fabric is still damp, sprinkle salt over the top and let it dry. This will give you a wonderful star like design.
Sun-printing - Mix your paints about 4 parts water one part paint. Using the same painting technique as in basic painting. Create your piece. While your fabric is still damp, take it outside into the sun and place leaves, flowers or sticks on the top of the painted piece. The colors will lighten underneath whatever has been placed on your fabric.
