Karen's Biography

Although Karen grew up under her Grannie's Quilting Frame, Karen has only been quilting herself for about 9 yrs. She began sewing garments for herself and her children several years ago. After learning that she loves to sew, a quilt was in her future.  Karen took a hand quilting class and quickly realized she likes to have quicker results and her carpal tunnel didn't really react well to hand quilting. She purchased a quilting book and went home and made her 1st quilt top.

Karen began making quilts that were not just traditional but she wanted them to look old. Just like her Granny’s quilts which now display proudly in her glass quilt chest. Karen’s 1st quilt is pictured to the left.

From Tradition to art, Karen’s love for fabric and color lead her from her traditional roots on to an expanded creative adventure.

Karen is now an award winning quilter with quilts shown in both Quilt Shows and Art Galleries. As a national teacher, pattern designer and art quilter, Karen loves not only creating her own quilts but helps students develop new, fun and creative techniques which they can apply to their own quilting style.   A "yes you can" attitude flows throughout her classroom so everyone can create while having fun and learning new techniques they can take with them and apply to future projects.
